Kyo-karakami is a high-quality traditional paper unique to Kyoto, prized by the aristocracy in ancient times. At a facility run by a long-running specialist you get a short crash course in Japanese art history.
You then make your own journal for collecting temple stamps, using centuries-old woodblock prints. The craft has existed in Kyoto for over a thousand years.
