Across the bay from Miyajima, in Hatsukaichi, you sit for the samurai tea ceremony of the Ueda Sōko school, which goes back to a warlord of the Sengoku era and is still carried on today.
Before the ceremony you take part in sakazukigoto, a ceremonial exchange of cups. You learn directly from an instructor who hosts these ceremonies, rooted in Hiroshima's warrior traditions.
