For hundreds of years travellers between Kyoto and Edo, now Tokyo, went on foot along the Tokaido. With a local guide you follow one of its best-preserved sections, the Hakone Hachiri, up to Hakone Pass.
On the way you stop at a traditional woodcrafts museum and a 400-year-old roadside teahouse, and at the top you look out over Lake Ashinoko with Mount Fuji rising behind it.
