Mount Takao, a Japan Heritage site only an hour from Tokyo, has long been a place of mountain worship. An internationally certified guide leads a private hike and tells the history of the mountain.
Later you eat shojin cuisine, the food of Buddhist monks, made from local vegetables, to restore body and mind. The day also includes a Buddhist fire ritual at Yakuo-in Temple.
